Confetti was in the air as David Beckham took the #23 Galaxy jersey and showed photographers officially for the first time yesterday.  I only got to see some of the press conference and it was just about what I expected.

Now all they hype is over and it is time to see his play on the field.  Well maybe not quite yet.  Beckham’s first game for the Galaxy is expected to be a friendly vs former EPL champions Chelsea.  Several of Beckham’s England teammates will be in town with Chelsea.  ESPN is even going crazy, they are going to have a Beckham-cam which will be focused on David throughout the entire match.

I really can’t wait until all they hype is over and he’s played a few games.  Then hopefully all the (american) football, baseball and basketball people on ESPN will go back to their own sports and not prove their own ignorance when it comes to real football.  This isn’t everyone on ESPN, there are some that know the sport and can say intelligent things about it.

Anyway, it will be and exciting 2nd half to the season for the Galaxy, hopefully.
