Galaxy lose to Rapids and lose Ruiz

As if the 4-0 loss to another team on the outside of the playoffs last year wasn’t bad enough, they also lost Carlos Ruiz for an undetermined amount of time. Rapids rookie Ciaran O’Brien laid a hard tackle on Ruiz near the end of the game on Saturday which eventually led to O’Brien seeing a red card. Ruiz went down holding his knee in pain. Initially it looked to me like the Ruiz a lot of people don’t like – the guy that is going to play it up until his opponent sees a card or he hears the whistle. But this time he was apparently seriously hurt.

Ruiz was diagnosed with MCL damage, which can be a very serious injury. Now Ruiz is questionable for the Galaxy game vs the San Jose Earthquakes. If he is only questionable it certainly can’t be too bad.
