What would life without Landon be like?

Laurie from the Offside LA Galaxy blog wrote today about the possibility of Landon moving to the EPL.  It is even potentially worse than that – this move could happen before the end of the current MLS season.

So I wonder – what would the Galaxy be like without Donovan?  Those would be some big shoes to fill.  Would Edson Buddle be able to pick it up, is Ruiz going to get back into top form, would they get another 30-something European superstar?

What would be the ideal situation (or replacement) if it was true and Donovan was possibly going to not be around at the end of the year?

What happened with Xavier?

It sounds like Abel Xavier will no longer be with the Galaxy. It seems the recent news of the addition of Dominguez has started something in LA.  Was Xavier forced out of LA by coach Gullit? Xavier said about Gullit “He used language that was not normal and he was very arrogant.” and that “He was a great player but he is not a great coach. I demand respect.”

Coach Gullit claims that Xavier was a bad apple.  From the feeling that I get from reading around the blogosphere it should be a welcome change to most Galaxy fans.

What do you think?  Will replacing Xavier with Dominguez be a good move for the Galaxy?

Nolberto Solano coming soon to the Home Depot Center

Former West Ham United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Boca Juniors midfielder/defender could be set to make a move to join the LA Galaxy in the near future.  The Peruvian player has spent time on the right wing and also as right back.

Nolberto Solano would be re-joining coach Gullit after spending some time playing under Gullit during one of his stays with Newcastle United.

Beckahm wins ESPY for best in MLS

For the 3rd straight year a member of the LA Galaxy takes home the ESPY for best in Major League Soccer. Landon Donovan has won the award the past two year – but it is Beckham that takes the award home with him this year.

In 15 games this year Beckham has 5 goals and 7 assists which has helped them to their current position in 2nd place in the west.

Buddle added to All Star roster

After the first XI were announced coach Nicol got to hand pick 5 extra players and the commissioner of the league also got to pick 2. Don Garber (MLS commissioner) added Edson Buddle to the All Star roster. Dwayne De Rosario was his other pick.

Buddle joins Beckham and Donovan on the team that will face West Ham!

Eduardo Dominguez should strenghthen Galaxy defense

The transfer window doesn’t open for another week, but the Galaxy are close to closing a deal with Argentinian central defender Eduardo Dominguez. Dominguez has been training with the Galaxy for 2 days but would not be eligible to play with the Galaxy until they travel to New York on July 19th.

Eduardo Dominguez is 29 years old and his most recent club was Huracán of the Argentinian first division. Dominguez has also spent some of his career in Colombia.

Is Frankie Hedjuk coming to LA?

Is Carlos Ruiz going to Columbus?

If you believe what is being said at MLS Rumors then you might be seeing Frankie Hedjuk in a Galaxy jersey in the not-so-distant future.

With Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan scoring like they are it is unlikely that Ruiz would get much playing time right now on the Galaxy. He would be sure to get plenty of time with his old coach in Columbus.

Who knows if there is any truth to this yet, but I imagine we’ll find out pretty soon.

Would you trade Ruiz for Hedjuk if you were in charge of the Galaxy?

Galaxy dominating player of the week awards

Landon Donovan was awarded the Player of the week award this past week for the third time this season. Combined with the 2 times David Beckham won the award, and the two times Edson Buddle has got the player of the week title, the Galaxy have won the award more times than they have not won it. 7 weeks out of 13 they’ve got the player of the week.

The good form of Beckham, Buddle and Donovan has helped the Galaxy reach the top of the western conference with a 6-4-3 record.

Galaxy make huge offer for Ronaldinho

tribalfootball.com has an article claiming that the LA Galaxy have made a huge offer for Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho.  The offer would pay Ronaldinho £12 million/year, plus give him £12 million for his image rights, and all of that after paying Barcelona £18 million for a transfer fee.

Is £30 million + £12 million/year be a worthwhile investment on Ronaldinho?

The Brazilian star is expected to reject the offer to stay and continue his career in Europe.

Edson Buddle thrashes Quakes

Edson Buddle hit his 2nd hat trick of the season this weekend against the San Jose Earthquakes.  That was all the Galaxy needed to dispose of the Quakes 3-0.  With this win the Galaxy are alone at the top of the western conference and tied with TFC for 3rd overall.

This has also moved Buddle into the 2nd position on the Budweiser Golden Boot list right behind teammate Landon Donovan.  Donovan has 9 goals and Buddle has 8 – each have played in only 9 games.  Most of the league’s top scorers have played 12 or 13 games.

The recent form of Buddle has some suggesting he may deserve a shot with the US mens national team.
